I agree that location and small benefits like food can make a company more attractive, but I think the most important factor is flexibility. During a labor shortage, many qualified workers may already have jobs, families, or long commutes, so they are more likely to choose a company that respects their time. For example, a company could offer remote work, flexible hours, or a four-day workweek when possible. These policies show that the company trusts its employees and cares about their work-life balance. In addition, flexibility may be more valuable than free snacks or entertainment nearby because it affects employees’ daily lives more directly. If workers feel that a company helps them manage both work and personal responsibilities, they will be more willing to apply and stay there.
