Dr. Diaz: Conformity means behaving in ways that match what others in a group expect. Do you believe conformity is mostly helpful or mostly harmful to individuals and society? Explain your opinion clearly.

🙋‍♂️ Paul (Mostly Helpful): Conformity helps maintain social harmony, reduces conflict, and fosters cooperation, leading to a stable community.

I agree more with Paul that conformity is mostly helpful to individuals and society. Although it may sometimes suppress individuality, conformity gives people a clear model to follow. In schools, workplaces, and nations, shared rules and habits reduce confusion, save time, and make cooperation easier. For example, when employees follow the same procedures, knowledge can be transferred more efficiently, and the company does not need to waste extra money or effort fixing disorder. Conformity also helps build a common culture, which gives people a sense of discipline and belonging. It does not necessarily kill innovation. In fact, common standards can provide the data, methods, and resources needed for better ideas to develop. Therefore, moderate conformity creates harmony while still leaving room for improvement.
